Hi guys,
Need to ask if i can use a camber compensator on a lowered bug? Heard from people that the CC can only be used or effective on a standard ride height.
Is this true? The Z bar on my bug has been removed & i plan to fix the CC but will be lowering the ride height by adjusting the torsion bars (not too low). I am currently using drop spindles (front) so need to 'equal' the ride height & don't like the jacked up look. And it also doesn't feel very stable during cornering.
Thx.
A compensating spring will work best when it supports some of the rear weight. You can run a bit of neg. camber on the rear - it will improve rear grip on corners, even on a road car. Good shocks will improve stability. For practical road use, around 1 - 2 degrees neg. camber should be OK.
As my Beetle is used for track-only, the comp. spring takes most of the rear weight, and I run 2.5 degrees neg. camber.
Cheers, Greg
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
So it should work even if i lower the bug? Coz i heard from a friend that it's more effective on a standard ride height & not so effective on lowered bugs.....
Cheers!!
I have a swayaway camber compensator's on both of my swing axle cars and both are lowered with 1.5 degree's of negitive camber, they work well in both cases.
