Vented Engine Lid With Doghouse and Wider Fan?
Another question for engine builders. I am building a larger engine with a doghouse cooler and wider cooling fan. I have a '68 with no vents in the
engine lid. Is this likely to be ok or should I use a two vent lid or perhaps a four vent lid?
Cheers........Wayne

It probably wont overheat but if you want a decent lifespan out of the engine fit a vented lid as it will run hotter than normal.
Even VW went from 2 vents for 4 after the first year then added the extra vent under the number plate light.

It WILL overheat, it's just you won't notice on the oil temp gauge, but at sustained hi-way running the fan will starve for air. The wider fan MUST
have more air available.

Thanks gents . I have a 4 vent engine lid in the shed so I will use that. Don't think I fancy a propped lid with only a mild 1776 under it

Joel,
Out of curiosity, did Ghia Coupes have different engine lids along the way? (or did one size fit all).

The decklid itself may have changed but the vent pattern was the same.
They are much bigger more open vents than what bugs have.
