Hinges

Do you have them and they are rusted - I don't know what they are off as they look quite hardwareish but can take a photo if you need.

Cheers

Peter

I have two correct ones, a completely rusted one and a wrong gate hinge  . I thought they may be off another vw. I suppose all i would need to do is find a hinge exactly the same size, fill the holes if they didn't line up and drill to correct pattern.. bobs ya uncle right?

I ended up buying two hinges from Bunnings, welded up the holes and drilled new holes to mount

It would be possible to make replicas that you’d be hard pressed to distinguish from the real thing. Wouldn’t suggest trying to “roll” the metal like the originals, I would machine up the bushes and pins, weld them to the plates, (original or new plates) and go from there. The hinges are unique to CB but the 6mm screws are beetle / bus door hinge screws. Only way you could tell the difference is that they weren’t worn out or rusted up.

Perhaps a Ghia door hinge is similar, weld up the holes?
