Country Buggy Indicator Switch
Seeing as the Indicator is a CB only 12Y part number, what local Aussie vehicle ran a switch like this? Land Rover? I need to find a couple of
switches for the CB's I have here.

Splitty Indicator Switches look like they won't fit

Have a look at the BMC range I lean toward the Morris Minor, Morris 850 era, if so they would be Lucas switches.

Looking again pv370 is most likely right as vW used a lot of T1 and T2 parts on these vehicles, the switch isn't splitty but the 1971-73 T2 switch.

Yes I realise that, but the parts catalogue uses a specific country buggy only part number. All other parts from beetles and Kombis used have their
part number used

I doubt it's a 71-73 T2 switch as the Country Buggy was built in 68

I believe most English electricals from back then would have been LUCAS.
It seems it may have been something that fits already, or VW may have machined the steering column to fit the switch, plus the part would have been
sourced as cheaply as possible.
I don't think anyone is going to notice.
Most of the BMC vehicles had a red blinker light at the end of the arm with a plastic end. Lucas quality was crap - "Lucas - king of darkness" I
think the original slogan may have been "King of the Night" or "King of the Road"
The main problems with generic parts is that they stop being built when they stop selling.....
Maybe Hella Australia was selling a generic blinker for cars that didn't have blinkers???? or trafficators????

I've been emailing Stevo169 recently on this subject.
He bought a 211-953-513B (Bus 55-57) but it was too small at the column clamp.
http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC%2D211%2D953%2D513%2DB
The CB has a 40mm column but the Bus is much smaller.
I think the 113-953-513A is the closest you'll get.
https://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC%2D113%2D953%2D513%2DA
It's a 5 wire and the CB was 3 wire. That may explain the 12Y part number
Steve did have CIP1 confirm that the 113-953-513A was in fact 40mm so that's something. I don't think he's bought one yet. That's where I'd
go.
Cheers
Tony

shouldnt be too hard to work out which three wires to use in the switch and just tape off the other two.

Hi Tony,
Yes I've had a look at the Splitty one and it is too small to go around the tube. So I'd say the 113 953 531a is probably going to be the go.

The extra wires just mean each circuit is insulated from the other!! I presume... nothing is impossible... just can be a bit more difficult.... or
maybe a separate wire for front right - rear right - and front left and rear left, so still basically a 3 wire system?
