Front beam swap?
Hi all,
Will the front beam from a 61 swap into my 66? I'll be upgrading to front discs, if that matters.
Cheers, Greg.

When did they change from link pin? And if I'm upgrading the brakes anyway, does it matter? I'm not smart with this topic!!

Are the discs already fitted to the beam you have in mind? Rusty memory here but I thought discs only came into use on the BJ beam cos that's when
they changed the PCD and number of wheel bolts that allowed the use of discs n calipers?

First one is for Link/King pin, second was Ball joint so won't fit LP beam. I think they're EMPI as well so beware the quality of Chinese EMPI.

Just to narrow it down for me, what years was each style available from?

From 68 was Ball Joint beam. From here onwards the Beetle came with disc brakes depending on the model. IIRC the 1200 always came with drums in
Europe/UK but unsure for USA and Oz.

So my 66 is King Pin and anything earlier is too. Cool. Thanks for dumbing it down for me. Lots to learn and so much info it's overwhelming.
