fitting decklid standoffs

Hey guys.

I've posed this question before about weather I should or shouldn't use decklid standoffs on my car.

62 beetle, no deck vents, 1641 motor and Aussie summer....

Anyway I was around at vintage the other week, and Boris suggested rather than putting the the top decklid standoff's where you run the risk of getiing stuffed up in the rain, to put the bottom standoff that goes around the latch of the decklid.

Personally, I don't really like the look of that one, but it seems a good solution for summer driving.

I'm just wondering if anyone is using these on their bug??

I want to know if they are easy to fit, require drilling etc??

If it's something I can put on a particularly hot day, and then easily remove when the weather cools.
Also, if anyone is using this kind, wondering if the decklid rattles while you are driving?
I see they are pretty cheap online, so could be a temporary solution 'till I can afford a better oil cooling solution.

Ideally, I have always wanted top standoffs that are retractable. Boris said someone used to make those but not anymore. If anyone knows of the kind I'm talking about and can guide me in the right direction that'd be great.

It's that time of year to start worrying about cooling so just wanted to see what others have done.

Cheers

HoodJax are what you want. These were removable (say 5 - 10 mins) and worked well. the deck lid latch works perfectly and if you had a locking one, could still lock the lid closed.

I think Glen Torrens used to make these. Glenn used to get on here regularly.
