How are people complying with the "collapsible steering column" requirement in NCOP
Hello everyone,
If we increase the size of our engine by (about) 20% or more, we need to comply with certain requirements (Mandatory safety upgrades for pre-ADR
vehicles). The last one of these requirements is we need to install a collapsible steering column. Anyone installing a newer motor into a split kombi
(67 or earlier) will pretty much be expected to meet this requirement to get their bus certified by an engineer.
I would just like to know what people are doing to meet this requirement? (e.g. what options are out there)

most aftermarket steering wheel hubs are collapsible. A universal joint in the steering shaft might also suffice

It would seem pointless to apply a rule like that to a forward control vehicle, like a Kombi, where you sit above the front wheels and the steering
column is almost vertical. logic would say "below a certain angle" . Often not a lot of logic in these things eh?
By the way, normally you would need 2 uni joints so the column is offset, as per the CAMS regulations.
