Governor Belt Industrial Engine
Hi all
Before it all disappears can anyone tell me what the toothed governor belt is on an industrial engine? I have a generator but it has no belt. Looks
like a an 8mm pitch (or 5/16") but I can't seem to get a line on one. Someone must know where to look.
Cheers
Tony

Thanks for that. Unfortunately in the VW parts system that part number seems to have gone obsolete with no replacement in 2010, and I don't have one
to compare.
The military service bulletins and reports I've found always list that the stripping out of the center of the governor pully is a common issue.
Indeed, this one was stripped out. Similar problem I expect to what happens when you use a toothed belt system on the fan drive and it stripped out
the center of the fan, due to the variable velocity of the crank having nowhere to "slip". I was thinking of making a couple of pulleys and running
an "M" section vee belt. It is only a governor after all, not a cam shaft, and as long as it's correctly adjusted should be able to govern the
speed.
Perhaps I'll get to it one day and let you know?
Strangely enough this one is 15KVA, 115/200V, 415Hz, 3 Phase Delivered December 1979 Yep 415Hz Probably for some sort of Jet.
