Subaru 2.2 degree Intake reverse

Hi Guys.
I have a Subaru 2.2 in my 1966 VW Bug and due to space reasons I would like to reverse my Intake Manifold. I have heard that it can be reversed 180 degrees to face towards the rear of the car instead of butting up against the Firewall. Does anyone here know if this can be done, and is it just the inatke that has to be reversed or do I have to do something with my heads? I understand that I will have to relocate my Alternator, and plan on installing that where my power steering pump was as I no longer have need for the PS pump in a Bug.
