Return fuel line EA82
Hi Guys
Been doing a bit of reading on the EA82 fuel system. It has a return line for the fuel system, so when I put this in the BAJA will I have to have a
return line to the tank or what have other people done ?
Thanks
Marc

I can't remember the details as my brother and I did it back in 1992. I'll ask him when he's around next.

If it is like every other EFI system out there you have to return it to the tank. Otherwise the bleed from the regulator won't go anywhere, and the
regulator will see full pump pressure. This will be bad for the pump and fuel economy. It possibly won't run either.

Hi wes
This is not a EFI engine, It is a carbie with a return line from the carbie.
I should have stated that sorry.

ah. I was thinking EFI like the EA82 turbo engines I've driven a couple of times.
Put a facet electric pump on and it probably shouldn't need the return. Did the EA82 have a regulator before it returned to the tank?
If so you might want to check what pressure the stock pump/regulator was, and maybe install a non-return type carby regulator. If it was regulated and
you simply block the return then the float needle will see the full fuel pump pressure, which could possibly push the floats open and flood the carb.

yeah, either change the fitting to a single outlet (they are available) or maybe attach it to the breather/overflow lin that goes up inside the side
vent of the bus?

Ok just talked to my brother and he said that we just blocked off the return line.I had this running in my L Bug for about 10 years without any
problems, just ran a little hot around town(it needed a bigger radiator than I had installed). We used a solid state pump with the lower pressure
range(there are two different types with different pressure ranges)
