--Those little knick knacks--

Had the Sunday afternoon almost to myself to do all those little things that need doing when you get a second hand car. Replaced the oil, checked all the wiring, put in the 2way and antenna, fire extinguisher, shades for the back windows and returned the petrol cap cover after the paint shop couldn't match the paint after three goes.

The future-
Get the 2way to work, replace the tape deck, get a reverse light and buzzer, car alarm and tint the front windows.

What little knack to you like to tinker with on the weekends.

The Bronze.

At the moment I'm preparing a BJ/IRS pan for the once-over. So the little knick knacks include brake lines, CVs, fuel lines, gear shift selector bushing and coupler, blah, blah blah!!

The list goes on forever!

I spent the weekend trying to weld up mounting brackets for the yellow boogers engine cage.

I got my wife to spend hers sewing me up a new interior roof lining (bless her heart) :-)

Knick knacks

In the bug - done the usual service stuff, still need handbrake cables, R/H vent window lock, retractable front belts, cut and polish, and put the original (two-tone) wheels on the back again (the tyres are stuffed so I'm running silver wheels from the square)

My 75 bus: new battery needed, need to locate the idle speed problem, fix a few rattles, cut and polish, fix a couple of dents, 16" wheels & tyres, fit the central locking and alarm, etc, etc, etc

My 66 International 4x4 P/van: new custom gearbox crossmember and mounts, rebuild the Torqueflite, new cable shifter, finish off welding the floor and the larger gearbox access cover, new handbrake lever setup, new transfer and handbrake lever mountings, cut down two falcon back seats to make one wide one, refit the LPG system, custom radiator with tranny cooler, air-con, custom radiator mounting, fit the PTO front winch, remount the electric winch onto the back end, finish the carby adapter I cast out of aluminium, wire it all up, bend some custom extractors, etc, etc, etc..

If I ever finish all that, I'll start making one decent car out of the squareback and the fastback, maybe using my 2L efi motor! :D

If you've put louvres on the rear window and it starts overheating... (just a little tip from an old-timer.)

Rhys,
I've got the pan at home now, with both new halves welded in. Before I get stuck into POR15ing the whole thing I have to take the body off the existing pan and sit it on the new one and make sure everything lines up.

Then it will be full speed ahead with the stripping of the body for spraying, and renewing almost every conceivable thing on the pan and running gear (bushes, hoses, etc).

Before things get too far advanced I will have to organise to get a digital camera I can borrow from time to time. (digital video camera would be great though!)

nothing as much as you guys but ive been trying to get my generator replaced for some time now, been quite a hassle.
also trying to get my drivers rear tire not to rub, ive installed new shock which has helped but im not 100% happy with it.
the alarms in and soon the stereo goes in too, once the generators going.
