squareback not starting...

Drove to work today, normal twenty minute drive, little to no stop start traffic, alls well, eight hours work, get in, drive home, a bit more stop/start traffic than usual, get home and drain oil while still hot... change oil ,fuel filter , screen gasket etc..etc. Turn key.... nothing, well theres charge in the battery, fuel in the tank, all leads and plugs are good and where they are supposed to be...not a sausage! just click, not turning over. Can any body suggest anything i can try? having a beer and ciggie now to calm the nerves as i have a four hour drive tomorrow and don't want this to happen in the middle of nowhere..Cheers muchly, Adam

Still looking Chris, i have a fresh battery, it doesn't turn over, just clicks or clunks and when i jump start it with a battery pack and she is running, it eventually dies completely with no lights on the dash. i'm taking a break till tomorrow morning.

Hey sicko, not sure if this will help or not but this sounds exactly like the trouble I was going through with my fasty. Seems my problem was simple though. I would get a couple of weeks of good driving then all of a sudden id park for a little bit and "click" nothing. Thought there was something wrong with the starter, went through the engine a few times checked it all out and it looked fine. Stupid me didn't check the battery, terminals werent tight enough and had grit and dirt through em... Gave em a sand & a clean whacked a bit of vasoline on em and tightened em right up, not a problem since. Hope this helps, simple problem but drove me nuts.
