1500 single port engine question

can someone tell me what the left hand side of a 1500 single port engine manifold connects to. not the part that goes on the head but the other part. it seems to connect to some element thing on the right hand side but left hand side has nothing and appears to have nothing it attaches to. must be something it is suppose to connect to.

also with this not attached woudld i be getting a major flat spot when i accelerate?

Have you got a photo? Your description is rather vague. Are you talking exhaust or inlet manifold? I'm assuming that you're talking about the exhaust crossover for pre-heating the inlet manifold. This takes exhaust from near the head on one side, runs it across the inlet manifold and then dumps it into the muffler. There should be small two-bolt flanges on both sides which it attaches to, unless you're missing either the factory muffler or heater boxes.

Does the thing your talking about come off the intake pipe just below the carb?

If so this is supposed to be conncect to your warm air intakes in the aircleaner if it were being used. If your not using a stock aricleaner then you need to plug the hole.

But a better description would help

Sounds like your manifold preheat discharge has rusted and fallen off.

Is this what's missing? (smaller diameter pipe)

Thanks all. All think Joel has nailed it. that piece is no where to be seen.

Have not been able to lie under the car where it is. gournds too wet.

So will this be affecting my accelrating when i put my foot down. i have a massive flat spot. when the top part of the carb push down on that little button like thign that sticks out of it. I know very technical. lol. Maybe pic woudl help.

Just sick of the way it is driving. First sinlgel port i have owned and first flat 1500 type3 motor. Little differnet to what i am used to . Am sure the principals are the same.
