Mk2 Gti Spec motor- info required
Iam just doing a little work on my golf. it runs a mk2 Gti 8v euro spec motor( i think 1988). I went into my local vw place and asked for a new dizzy
cap and coil, as mine are shagged. All i know about the engine is the above, and it has K-jettronic injection. its in a mk1, so i can't even quote a
year number. Was this engine ever in aus? in what year model?
just want to be able to say, its a 89 aus Gti motor.
is anybody able to tell me where to get a manual on this engine or the engine classification, as it would make ordering parts alot eaiser. They said
they don't carry these parts stock (under standable), but will order in without a problem.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

the k-jetronic motor didnt come to australia in the golf unless they were imports, im not 100% sure but i think some audis that came here had the same
engine.
you could also try Brian at GTI IMPORTS in Sydney, he should have what your chasing.
good luck trying to find some info on the engines too, but you could also try ringing Gordon here in rocky on 49220111 during business hours.

Ive got a few manuals for these things and I reckon that the robert bentley manual is the best by far any book shop should be able to order it I got
mine from bookworks at punchbowl n.s.w. $110 (worth it )
ISBN 0-8376-0342-0
p.s. I am pretty sure all ELECTRONIC IGNITION 8 valve 1.8 golfs use the same cap and rotor
try tooley imports at hornsby (have engine number handy just in case)

Hey mate, if it runs K-Jet, it is probably earlier than 88. It is probably an EV engine. Look at the engine code on the block. I think it will be EV.
Let me know what the letter designation is and I will tell you the info you need.

No worries. I thought you might have got my old white mk1 with a k-jet 1.8. Obviously not.
