How hard is it to replace door window scrappers ?
It's all relative Craig.

Why is that funny ?
Get out screw driver, tape shaft so no damage to paint
Remove door trim
Remove two 10mm bolts that hold window channel
Drop window into door shell
Remove old inner scraper
Remove old outer scraper
Fit new outer scraper
Fit New inner scraper
dry lube scrapers
Lift up window
Re-install 10mm bolts
wind up window to test
re-fit door card
yeah it can be a PITA which is why you drop the glass. Depending on the model you may need to drop the 1/4 out but most of the time the beetles are
fine.

Its a 68 beetle Brad.
Do I need to remove the channels the window runs up on the door frame as well as the quarter frame one ?
From memory they have PITA clips that hold them in ?
Matberry, have you done it before ?

I bought all the scrapers and started putting them in one day.
Only managed to get inside drivers on because i got too frustrated and gave up.

Craig, its many times. 10+ years at Volksrestore, I did one or two, although my brother managed the panel section more than me.
Proceedure is important, Brads list will certainly help.
The worst part is the crap quality of most replacement parts.

Mate that was nearly ten years ago and I'm just getting into the swing of things,+ bed time and takes way too long typing... You'll be ok, just be
very carefull with new paint...
Take your time, reverse the disassembly order exactly when going back together.

Ok I wasn't posting an exact how to do it and it is to damn cold for me to go outside to the shed and double check.
Yes you need to remove the bailey channel and they PITA clips are easy to remove as long as you remove them correctly and don't just rip them out.
The clips are suppose to come out with the bailey channel not stay in the car. They have a retaining tab on the back that you slide up to get it out
of the hole (about 5mm). You can pull the bailey out of they but they have teeth and often don't like to let go. To put them back in you clip them in
and then push the bailey channel into it
As for times, I will happily do a set fot two hours labour if anyone wants to bring their car over with the correct parts. I don;t see what the big
deal is, it isn't even a dirty job.
If you realy hate it then just build a buggy ...

hehehehe........yeah thats why i'm restoring a country buggy !!!!
I know its not a big deal....................its just I'm deciding between masking up the existing trim/scrapper (perfect condition) or remove and
replace ! I really don't want to get half way through and get the SH#Ts !

On building my sons baja I was more concerned over doing the door windows than anything else on the car. Wiring can get a bit annoying sometimes but
taking it slowly and logically it didn't bother me, but the thought of those PITA clips and the "fragile" trim attached to the outer scraper and my
short temper I expected something not nice to happen as it was I had to take two goes to get the first side done (I was replacing all rubbers and
refitting all the glass) but it is fiddly to do and I wish I could have done it in an hour per side.

as a guide, if every part of the car was an equivalent cost in relation to the 'size' of the job, i would of been better off buying a 2008 Ferrari.
In saying that, i hadn't the time to do the whole car myself, so i paid through the butt for the bits the shops did.
