Need info on wheel sizes

Can anyone tell me what the maximum offset and size rim i can fit on a '61 ghia is ?

it is slightly lowered. standard beam

I have seen the radir rims (17 x 7 i think) and wondered what the offset / backspacing is & what will fit

i think you will have to do mods to fit those size wheels on yours, thats the problem with ghias, such a pain to put big wheels under

Yeh, maybe i'm just used to buying readily available bigger sizes for my hilux's, don't think my 20's or 22's will squash under the ghia, although, i did actually get out the tape measure!!!!
Didn't consider 17's to be big, will have to give "vintage" a call.

I had to go to 4.5" Mangels & 145x15 on the (lowered) front and it still scrapes on occasion...

Check out this; it might give you some answers / options.

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=257834&highlight=wheels

You don't see 17's on a Ghia often, and I'm sure if it were easy we'd be seeing plenty.

Here is the only picture I've found and they're on a Razor.

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d35/axlepressbutton/17sonType3.jpg

Now 15" Radars can still look very cool?

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d35/axlepressbutton/15Radars.jpg

Then there is always this......

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d35/axlepressbutton/Photoshopcopy.png

......but then I think this car has spent more time in Photoshop than a workshop- :?:
