The best Beetles
I've seen a few people say they believe the 1976 Beetle is the best ever.
What is your opinion? and more importantly, why?
I'll permit the New Beetle to weigh in IF it has any supporters. And you can nominate a few consecutive years, or an era, or a type (eg Oval).

theres no right answer to this question
depends want u want in a bug
IRS is the better arse end than swing axel but to many purists out there dont like superbugs but do like IRS so that why they say 76
it was the only manual bug to have IRS but standard tractor front end
i prefer supers cos of the 100x improved ride quality over beam front/swing axle rear
Lbugs are the most technically refined and have a 42% bigger windscreen, wipers that actually do a decent job, a boot that will fit more than just a
13mm spanner and something that resembles a dashboard not an electrical distribution panel
most ppl dont like the bloated look tho

I like the look of the early 60's Beetles but the 71/72 1302S is my all time fav daily Beetle. Still had a little bit of the old feel with the flat
front screen and metal dash but with the upgraded features like front disc brakes more storage space and strut front end. My old 63 was a beauty
though.

I like our 1302S for the same reasons as above. We had a 1970 1500 and when it went away, the look of the 1302 was pleasing to the eye for us, and the
mechanical side of things were 1600TP, IRS, strut and disc.

I think I'd like to get a Super with the flat windscreen, though I don't mind the curved. I actually like the look of the larger bonnet. I just wish
they were cheaper....

Supers are generally cheaper than standards because they are not "aryan"
That is why i like them
They are the most advanced yet still affordable
Compare the price of a set of elephant feet against a set of hearts or tail lights for a 1958 Ghia
Give me a German Look Super anyday

i'll have a split window body on a manualised 69 semi auto pan (i hate the seat rails on the '76's)
that would be the best of both worlds!

I love my 74 non super but my ultimate would be a 1975 super with rack and pinion steering and a subi in the back
Cannot see why most people hate the fat chicks. More cushion for the pushin
