Engine bay is fine - just needs to be before the pump

i have just pulled the tank out of a 71 and there is plenty of steering stuff moving around in that area (wouldnt be my choice of location), however as there is plenty of room over the gearbox to put an in line filter. this was my choice as its secure, up high, no heat and relatively easy to change. i dont like them in the engine bay either. hope that helps John F.

And away from hot and moving parts ;)

As 1970 fasty says, next to the gearbox works well.
