I used the german seals on my doors and they are rubbish, as vlad says, I have to slam the doors really hard to get them to shut(sometimes have to go three or four goes to get door to shut properly). They were stupidly expensive too compared to other aftermarket stuff I've seen. After fiddling with everything else on my car they are coming back off to be replaced with the cheaper ones that actually work.

Great news! I'm keen to see it rolling.. I've started welding up patches in the pan and body but it'll be a while before I'm spraying. Acrylic or two Pac on the fasty?

After hearing all opinions I went with ISP west and cip1 products - both have unmatched customer service. American door seal kit instead of German. I just couldn't justify paying up to triple the price for the same product here in Aus. Thanks to all who gave their two cents worth.

Don't be in a rush to get rid of the german seals nsuwift if you have just installed them - mine were the same after installation but after awhile they sealed very well....probably 2 months... mine didn't feel really hard/old though.

But yes if I did the job again I'd go cheaper.

Ive bought alot from ISP west. Customer service was great but I found the American door seals crap as well as the windows seals with the chrome trim. Just didny fit well. The main thing when buying from overseas is making sure you explain exactly what you want and for what year model it is in Australian terms, doesnt match up with american type 3's. I had so many stuff up's. Makes me wish I bought it all here in Oz. Alot easier to get exchanges or rufunds on shitty products.

perhaps you didn't fit them right. I found no issues, but then again the door seals are based of the very early model cars so only the cars with 3 bolt hinges fit correctly.

also they list their parts but vw part number so its up to you to match the correct numbers and do your research.

I did mine and had minimal fuss, I would not hesitate to buy again from them, although there is nothing for me to buy anymore, I have bought every single part I will ever need from them :starhit: try buying the same quality stuff here? I doubt you'll find it.

ISP ftw!

I totally agree that the same products here in Oz would easily be double. Its really sucks. Yeah I would still go back to ISP as they have the best range for type 3's. As far as ordering right, I had my order placed correct but the wrong products came. Alot due to TMI interior gear which doesnt get checked at ISP before shipping eg. wrong colour seat covers, left hand drive front carpet, roof linging sown shitty. I still would recommend people giving them ago but be aware that stuff up's can happen and it takes along time to get it worked out compared to shopping in Australia....

the exceptions are the door trims.

Thanks.

wolfsburg automotive in Victoria have most rubbers for beetles , Kombis and type 3s.. they had catalogs in VWA magazine a few years ago..

its very good stuff.. but expensive..

they say if its not available they will have it made..
then it would really be expensive.. lol
