Firstly, where did I say that this engine was crap?

Quote:
SR20 and unlimited potential? Sure, but to get into the 10s with an SR will cost significantly more than the CA.

I am yet to see an SR that has reached it's power potential. I have already witnessed 2 CA's that are damn fast but are at their peak as far as further performance goes. I couldn't give a crap about Chang Wang's 10 sec CA in Japan, I haven't witnessed it therefore I can make such a statement.

Quote:
How can you say that you "don't think they're bad" after saying you'd "avoid CA like the plague"?

Eh? Like I said I was told this, I didn't project this opinion myself.

Quote:
And whats the problem with the RB series? I wouldn't put one in an S13 because of the weight, but they're genuinely good engines.

Again, I didn't say there was a problem with the RB series, I merely pointed out that I very much disliked the RB20DET.

Quote:
Come on, give me some reasons why the CA is crap? Not just "some dude on the nissansilvia.com forums told me they're weak", give me supported facts.

And again, I didn't SAY the CA was crap. Where did I say this???????????

To sum my post up I simply portrayed my opinion that although the CA is a good engine, I prefer the SR!!!

JESBUS! Read what I wrote, don't start a flaming session and make crap up!

Personally I reckon an RB engined silvia would be an absolute hoot - if you can fit an RB20, you can fit an RB30 with RB25 twin cam conversion and nice big single turbo - who wouldnt enjoy driving a 3 liter silvia ?

I know of an RB25 silvia, it is insane. It is the fastest street registered Silvia in QLD.
As far as RB20 goes, too many people are doing backyard conversions into S13's now because that engine is way, way cheaper and of course, who wouldn't want a 6 cyl :duh.
I know it will be time to sell off the Silvia when I see broken down S13's here there and everywhere....

Yep the SR20 will throw rods with the best of them. So there you go, now you've seen some that have reached their power potential, and exceeded it.

lol ouch! poor sr :o

Unfortunately broken car components is just apart of the game to the power chasers. Something good I always try and remember is: HP cost money, how fast can you afford to go.

To clarify, what I meant was I have never witnessed an SR where the owner has run out of modification options to enhance it's performance. Sheesh, I certainly will never reach it (when I start doing my car up) but for every day driving it will be all the power I will need. I'm not interested in 8/9/10 second cars and to be honest I don't know or care to know much about them. I just want my car to be as reliable as can be and to me SR is a safe option.

I never said the CA engine was crap, it's a matter of opinion and it should be left as such, people say good and bad things about either engine is what I was trying to get at. At the end of the day it's a Nissan, and they are still way ahead of the rest.

I get the feeling that what I say is not respected anywhere on this forum as all anyone wants to do is argue my *OPINIONS*, possibly because I am a girl and what could a girl know about cars...who knows. I'm no expert, but I do live, breath and drive S13 so I felt I could finally contribute something back.

In future I will refrain from comment on anything "tech" as I am so frustrated that some people on here don't respect other people's opinions, they just want to fight! :vader

I apologise, rice_girl, for making you think I was having a go at you. I was having a go at this misguided opinion that you get with every second S13 devotee that the CA is inherently weak. Over at the silvia forums, these sorts of threads turn into 19 page arguments.

My reaction was to those opinions. If they're not your opinions, then you shouldn't be offended. If they are, then support them with evidence.

This thread exists because someone wanted to put an SR20 in a beetle, and it turned into a thread about other nissan engines. Maybe we should get back on topic.

Now, as to the FJ20, I'd guess that it is too big or too heavy. Anyone got an FJ and a measuring tape?
