It says he got it from Outback in the spec... I believe they have now changed their name due to complaints from Subaru though? Price will be on their
website...

JP,
You have a VERY nice VW. Some questions for you: you kept it Swingaxle, how did you hide the upper cam covers on the engine? Did you move the trans
forward at all? If so how with the swing axle? I have a '67 that I am putting the ej20 turbo into and want to keep the swing axle, but don't know
how much the upper cam covers would stick out. Do you have any more photos of that area?
Thanks
Craig

The swing axle trans is in the stock location.
Here you can see I fabricated the upper half of the rear apron which sort of "cuffs" the intake cam gears. Otherwise, they definitely hit there, at
least with the DOHC.

Just enquiring re your tacho. Is that an off the shelf VDO unit or only made specifically for the 993? What year etc, would like that for my
conversion.
What read out do you get in the LCD area, is it speedo?

I managed to get the 993 (On Board Computer) Tachometer to read coolant temperature by using a "calibrated" resistor that I ran in series with the
Porsche's ambient air temperature signal wire.
I also got the tach to read vehicle speed. I hooked it up to my test bench and sent it a signal with a frequency generator to achieve "60mph". I
then measured the wavelength with an oscilloscope and with some calculations, I figured out how many teeth the sensor would need on a 235/45ZR17 tire
to achieve 60mph. This works beautifully as it has great resolution. I can read all the way down to 2mph with the EMS.
I mounted a HONDA iVTEC cam sensor (not pictured) to the bearing cap to pickup off these 8 teeth inside the rotor.

oh.....my..............god!! im on love!! i registered to this site after someone sent me pics of this car on another forum!!! its perfect!!
im building a ragtop 56 oval at the minute, and its gonna be very like yours to be honest. its a non matching car, and to be honest only bought the
shell and picked up a 56 pan also, so not really worrying about how much cutting im gonna have to do.
ok, the stuff ive gathered up soo far, full digital air ride kit, front linkpin, rear swingaxle bolt on rbracket etc from airkewld. also have 17 x7
and 17 x 9 porsche rims chromed turbo twists. behind these will sit porsche 996 big reds, and disks also, i have 1 2276 sitting here brand new but
gonna sell it to fund sti engine, which was why someone sent me this link.
the reason im here..............thousand and one questions...........take a deep breath................
have you and more photos of firewall relocation, from inside car and back....
did you have to move your gearbox at all? i want to keep the floorpan as stock as possible without messing with frame horns etc. i want to run rancho
super street swing axle box
my main thing i want to keep engine under the lid, very discreet, what about coooling? have you any pics of the car from the front?? valance
drilled?
i see you have the 9 inch rears, same as im putting on, much work in this?
sorry for all the questions, but totally inspired! have all the bits sitting here! just wanna get stuck in! well al apart from the engine...........
what actual model engine should i be looking for and what do i need to remove from the donor car with it
many many thanks in advance
shane

Have you driven it like that? It doesn't look like there is anywhere near enough clearance to the rear wings...
A paint job and it would almost look like 'stock car' herbie!

Okay, more questions on your cooling system, what sizes are your rads and oil cooler and where did you mount the oil cooler and second radiator? Did
you run the second radiator off of the heater pipes on the engine? How did you tap into the oil for the oil cooler? Is there a fan on the oil
cooler? Thanks.
