2.7 ltr reverse rotation corvair motor gets ripped
Left my workshop here down in Geelong about 2.30pm today, was gone bit over two hours, came back to find the big roller door had been forced, my
engine stand complete with a brand spanking corvair motor that I recently built for a client had been dragged across the workshop floor ( stand has no
wheels) my tool box turned upside down as they tried to find a spanner ( obviously didnt know that the engine bolts are 17mm) to remove engine from
stand, also the motor was still hooked up to my test bench as the camshaft was recently run in, they ripped all the attachments from the motor
including the fuel line which slowly leaked fuel across the workshop floor  then threw that corvair engine into their ute/truck/van what
ever, and pissed off!!!
So folks in VW land, if you hear of a recent corvair conversion, please let me know, oh the adaptor plate has been modified to suit an automatic 2 ltr
kombi box ( recess machined into top of it to allow access to drive plate bolts) Nothing else in the workshop was touched, am somewhat pissed off!!
havent told the client yet, as its a bit late to ring right now, he aint going to be happy. hope the rest of the year gets better  cheers Frank

Frank, do you have an engine number, or any peculiar features for it? A good friend of mine has a Corvair, and he is looking at 'doing' the engine.
He may keep an eye out for it.
Makes you feel like doing something, with a rusty, blunt knife, to those sorts of bastards.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

Cops reckon the scum were waiting, the minute I was around the corner, they were into it, its obviously some one that has been in the workshop and
seen the motor or even heard it run,( Lots of folks have had their ear drums shattered from that thing)!! had lots of enquiries at day of the
Volkswagen, and admit that I did brag about this new sick puppy on the test bench, handed out heaps of business cards with details and had a few folks
come down for a gig, so could have been anyone.
Workers from the factory across the road spotted a schwarz dunnydore ute with mags hanging around but no one got the rego as there is allways a lot of
cars & trucks around, the owner of the kombi that this motor was going into is absolutely gutted and first question was, "How Long to build
another one"!!
This motor was the scums only target, I have been through everything and cannot find anything else missing, my buddy came in last night and took his
chopped bug home and I still have one very sick vair motor that is coming home this afternoon, arrangements for cameras are allready underway, thanks
for all the good words folks and I am pretty confident that this motor will turn up somewhere as the VW community is a very tight nit bunch of good
people and someone will hear something somewhere, thanks again, hmmm, now the task of another build cheers and have a great new year, Frank

Motor looks factory stock apart from the adaptor, I hope the scum realize that they have stuffed up bigtime and will get caught out and they leave
the motor somewhere to be found. The modified adaptor plate is a standout, so they would need to obtain a standard adaptor plate, cheeky bastards
might even ring me to buy one, so I think i will advertise an
adaptor plate on ebay through someone else?? thanks again folks cheers Frank

They are obvously not intelligent and are more that likely are one of your customers, it is something that is not readily sellable uless they were
paid to steal it for someone else, adaptor plates are available from oversea so you could be wasting your time

My thoughts exactly, they obviously knew exactly what they wanted and I'd assume it's for someone else as they were too stupid to know how to take
it off the engine stand etc.
I hope they get their karma........arseholes!!!!!

Hi
Sorry to hear of Your loss a few days ago
but thought at the time You shouldn't have mentioned the adaptor plate..
seems like they either had been to Your workshop at some time or at least knew about the corvair engine..
its a very rare engine to steal... so.. they must have a sale for it or want to use it...
VERY VERY RARE...
so, wouldn't be used locally ...??
but You never know...

Incase the person that is responsible for the theft of my corvair motor reads this very post that will be posted on most vw forums, all I can say is,
dude, you stuffed up, you will be brought undone, so please have a conscience and dump the motor somewhere to be easily found and maybe some clear
plastic to protect it from the elements. To all other decent VW folk, if anyone finds out information leading to return of this motor, I will gladly
reward them with $500 thanks Frank
