Once upon a time I had no real interest in Country buggies but seeing all of you guys restoring them and reading the unique history of them has changed all of that for me. So much so that I can see me buying one when funds become available.

Congratulations on starting yours and let the good times roll for you.

Hi Andy
Most of the panels can easily be made by any sheet metal shop as they were made up in the same way during production in the factory.
whose C/B is it in the picture ?

tell Me, are those round Hella amber blinker lenses still available???
I know they were very common back in late 60's 70s, and used on many trailers and caravans etc... then they went square...

That's a pretty nifty device you created there.
Not quite a rotisserie frame (which would allow a full 180 degree rotation), but it appears this should allow you to access to some tough area to work on without breaking your back or wearing out your knees.
Can it be reversed to flip the opposite direction?

I bought ones for my Country Buggy from Supercheap. Look exactly the same, bolt holes line up perfectly and they are LED.

Hi I was going to go with 180 but saw a few splittys like this and seemed a lot easier to build than a full rotisserie. To reverse there will be a few cuts and welds but shouldn't take more than a Half hour or so . Hoping to spend Sunday and Monday on this. This isn't going to be a paint job sand blast resto. More repair and blend in. Keep to as much it's original appearance as possible. Hard top etc will be going back on. Maybe even a roof top tent for going away

I'm planning on doing a full rollover rotisserie for our bus but this one looks good for doing our Topless L Bug.
Keep the pics coming

Andy
Double check the seat belt mount. A crap heater channel I bought had a nut tacked in there with no support piece. Could have pulled it out by hand. It was a cheap piece of tin with no heater tube in it. If I had my time again I’d buy a good one and remove the tube, fill the holes etc, like you’re doing.
Good stuff
Tony

owch that's nasty, yes I did my seatbelt mount over the last few days, phone camera not working :( 4mm flat steel about 150mm long, 40mm wide, drilled in centre for bolt/ nut welded to back, slit open heater channel, slipped in, welded to to edges where cut open, down to lower. closed up. wont go anywhere. Hope to get a few minutes on sunday back on the buggy with camera working again.

Update - Some more work on CB, body and pan both getting work completed by other people
Pan is getting a new frame head grafted on, new pan halves and then painted up in factory colour. Pan should be back in a few weeks then rebuild starts happening of running gear.
Body having a few rust repair and then back home for some more. Still aiming for Valla, but maybe ill trailer it over.
