I've been bugging any body possible about this as well - no one seems to have had any problems running GT40s, standard coils etc - the only thing I can come up with is that most people seem to agree that German / genuine plug leads give the least problems. I can't find anyone who has actually fitted a ballast resistor. Some with compufire ignitions have had troubles with silicone leads - but no probs with stock. I've gone back to stock leads and will soon fit compufire. After that will replace stock coil with GT40. See what happens from there......:o

I run the trick coloured leads that are "copper cored" cause somebody had mention that(silicon leads) as well.

I also run a standard GT40 coil & top gun leads from Autobahn & have done so for many years.

hey jakriz, do you know if there is a resistance wire in the loom on a sbug?...it just that this COMPU FIRE kit has in the instructions "that a suitable BALLAST RESISTOR must be installed between the ignition switch and coil"
I 'd hate to fry the new module thats all

I've fitted mine in the 60 KG & the car runs a treat.

Seems to have smoother pick-up & a little more zip.

Don't know about the ballast resistor, I just closed my eyes & turned the key..

thanks Brad!
