Seagull... the 1994 celica NEVER had a 1.6ltr available AT ALL out of EVERY variation available in the entire world. Nor was a 1.6ltr
available on ANY Australian domestic celica since the 70's!!!
U probably got the rolla in mind instead.
Australian domestic celica models came with the following engine configs:
1) 5sfe phase 2 2.2ltr I4 (135hp) widebody CAMRY equivalent, made for good bottom end and torque. st204 celica.
2) 3sgte phase 3 2ltr I4 turbo (240hp if ADM, 251 hp if JDM). mr2 turbo equivalent. st205 celica (aka GT4/alltrac)
If import and NOT turbo, most likely a 3sge 2.0ltr I4 (177hp, ACIS, yamaha tuned, internals good for 400hp, oil squirters, stock exhaust headers)
st202 celica. mr2 n/a non 5sfe equivalent. Not bad tech for 1994 n/a with no vvti.
ALL THREE engine configs, despite ranging from 135hp to 250hp use the same block/bottom end but different heads, and a few other variables, like
slight stroke and bore changes and oil squirters etc.
All other engine configs (there are about 2 or 3 other engines available) are from overseas domestic models, smallest being 1.8ltr 7a-fe and no one
in the right mind would go to the trouble of ever importing one.
Volkswagen adapter plates for these engines are available from the yanks (kennedy adapter plates): http://www.kennedyeng.com/vw_por.htm Its listed as the 'Toyota S' after the S block, which is used on the 3sfe, 5sfe,
3sge, 3sgte engines.

Do u still know the guy? he wouldn't happen to have a spare 94' celica transaxle by any chance? i'm after an st204 or st202 gearbox... or 94
onwards mr2 box.
