Budget Engine Ideas

hey all

New to the forum, new to owning a vw, but evem tho ive only owned Kikko for a few months i've already noticed that the 1600 doesnt have enough grrrunt!

has anyone got any cheap solutions? just need to give her a bit more of a kick. not too huge and certainly not too expensive.

Cheers,
Daniel

How about a big Rubber band? do you have twin carbies? That would help. Welcome to the nut house...

Drive a 1300 around for a while, the 1600 has plenty more grunt. Only the big engines have enough power to keep up with the modern zippy little cars, just cruise in your Beetle or if you want to go fast spend the money on a big motor, suspension upgrades, break upgrades and you will have it. otherwise you could buy a car where most of this work has been done for you in the design ala Alfa, Porsche, BMW etc...Japanese too if you must.

start with a decent extractor set and a twin barrel progressive webber. then eventually a big bore kit. that will give it some kit. ether that or upgrade the mouse on the wheel to a rat or hamster. :thumb:thumb

1- get a good tune by a good vw specialist, and get him o check everything.
2-get s set of extractors
3- look at mabye getting some ratio rockers
4-get the std carby rejetted for ratio rockers and extractors
5-go twin carbies
6- now have to split the case for any thing more.

Turbo?

You could have a tired engine? Get a compression test done to check your engine is still lively.

If it is then consider putting a turbo on it! Have a look at www.lowbugget.com.

Its not all that hard to fabricate the bits required yourself.

Cheers

Steve

thanks for the help. ive decided on putting twin turbo stickers on the rear windscreen, that should add a few kilowatts. i've also hired a shetland pony for the weekend to run in the wheel for the drags.

for the people that actually gave real advice, thanks its really made it a bit easier to find some parts (big swap meet this sunday) and as for the people that gave the not so functional advice, well it was great for a laugh.

Cheers,
Daniel
