Bay Window Motor and Gearbox What is it

Hi I have just pulled the gearbox out of a 74 Bay Window Kombi and I were expecting to see an 1800 box - 5 ribs. What come out was a box with 3 ribs. What have I got?
Also the engine number has an AP prefix. A check of my Bently manual does not identifiy any AP prefix. Any ideas on what size this motor is?

Thanks Rhys, I might have to get one of the idiots guides as the Bently one is a bit lacking when it comes to stuff outside the US. At least the motor is the size I were expecting.

The 1600 box is a popular choice for 1800 bays. Mine has one. They don't go quite as quick but they have better pulling power.

i was in the same position as u except i had a 2.0L engine. Its a real annoyance. Took us a month or two to track down a 2L gearbox, ended up getting one for $350 in good nick. If your going to be driving on the highway alot then you should try and get a 1800 gearbox otherwise your engine will be reving too hard.
