| Chassisnumber on 60's Type 1

Can someone tell me where on the chassis number is located on the body of a type 1 60's?
The plate in the front boot is for a type 2. I was wiping the grime away from the plate and saw the words TYPE 2 on the plate and knew that wasn't
right!!!

I looked under the rear seat as that's where I thought the chassis number was located but I can't find anything there.
Not sure where else to look.

it WILL be stamped under the rear seat just in front of the oval access plate for the gear box coupling

It may be faint but it will (better) be there

 Got it.
It was in front of the oval access plate. I had to get a rag to wipe the dust away and once I had a torch in there I coud see the chassis numer as
plan as day.

Thanks for getting back to me Bizarre.

I checked the number against a few sites and I can't match it to any year.... I must be reading the sites incorrectly....

 Sure about that number tinman??
Sounds mighty high for a 60's pan. There might be a star/asterisk stamped in at each end of the number as well, that may mislead if its not heavily
stamped in.

I went down and checked the number again after I looked at around 6 differant sites for chassis numbers. I was getting confused so thought I'd post
the number.

I couldn't find an Australian site that showed chassis numbers as I was thinking the 19 number must be Australian specific as the sites i was looking
at were in the UK.

Thanks vw54 for clarifying that for me. Was there a web site you pulled that from or memory?
