Truck hit thoruns type 3.... she needs help
Ok a truck changed lanes on the William Jolly bridge, but failed to see her, end result is he side swiped her... :o there is damage up side of her
car, door is stuffed, it's still driveable, and she is not hurt thankfully. Unfortunately she is uninsured, but truckdriver was. She is now having to
go thru the motions with the truckies insurance company. She needs to get 2 quotes and has asked me to ask forum if anyone knows of any good
panelbeaters in brisvegas.
What a silly truckdriver, why his careless actions and the resulting
suffering caused for my friend make me so dangdiddlyangry... and buses they are a menace sometimes as well, oh my the roads these days are a warzone,
survival of the fittest, or in this case, the biggest....
Thanks. Heather.

From what I saw of it today the front panel doesn't look too bad, the door is stuffed (as in it would take a crap load of work to get it right - or
even anywhere near right) and the rear needs a fair bit of work. The truck seemed to hit side on, but ripped the door forwards if that makes sense.
To cap it off, I asked and she told me that some little darling ripped off her Volkswagen script from the rear and the VW emblem off her nose the other week!!!
I'm tracking down a panel beater out Northgate who said he did his apprenticeship on VWs and asking if he does Type 3's as well.

Hi
Thats bad luck, glad shes OK, metal can usually be fixed. Make sure shes sticks to her guns and dosnt get pushed around by the pen pushers at the
insurance company, we cant afford to loose any more VWs from our roads. Maybe she needs an advocate, someone with balls that wont take any shit,
sounds like a job for SUPER 2.63 BAJA WOMAN, not saying that you have big balls Heather, but you know what I mean.

Try Brett Brackley Body Works on 3256 6301. He's currently doing my '63 Beetle.
Also ring Rohan at Mick Motors. He knows of another VW panel guy on the Northside who did his vert.
Cheers

Hey, As a 7 Days a week "Stupid Truckie" , I'd just like to add, that things like this teach people lessons about giving the trucks a little more
consideration and road space...
If I had a dollar for every Idiot that cut in front of my truck and left me insufficent braking distance, I wouldn't have to go around towing the
fools that cut in, drive in the blind spot of other vehicles, run red lights, read the newspaper, do their make up and send text messages while they
are driving, (and all the other stupid behaviour that causes accidents) ...
$2.63 homebrand baja, perhaps you can stop for a minute and give some thought to that, before you go slanging off EVERY truck driver, because ONE of
them is supposed to have hit your friend..!!!!
There are 2 sides to every story...
Oh And If you can't afford insurance, maybe you should take the, "Stupid Bus" instead of Leaching off the people that can.....!!!! |

thanks everyone, Thorun is going to have to make time next week to pop into the library and see this thread, she was worried no one would love her
anymore because she hasn't been able to get online. *wipes tear from eye then sratches her balls* Fingers crossed she gets some kind of result.

.........dude, talk to thorun, she was in the right, he swerved without looking, she had nowhere to go..... :o like truckkies never pull out or
monster people....

.............. imagine the feeling of power one gets from being in a truck, and getting roadrage......I understand fully the cncept of breaking,
downshifting several gears, etc. I also enjoy highway driving with huge trucks with trailers monstering me because I am in a vw doing 105K.
I drive a VW so I also understand being cut in front of. I had a landcuiser troopy for a while.. very responsive breaks in that..... not a semi but
similar principle.
I give way to Trucks, and understand they are having to deal with a lot of stress, but on the flipside I also enjoy driving in the city and having
busses pulling out because they have the magic 'give way' sign, regardless of whether you are in thier blindspot or not. Trucks can and DO sometimes
have the same attitude.

I am sure thorun will thank you for your sympathy and understanding.
If you are having a go at me in any way,, well get stuffed, my crapbox IS fully insured... but you don't see me having a go at thorun for her
financial position...
Have a nice day WABaja, and stay safe on the roads. Don't do drugs and 'keep on truckkin'

I wish Thorun's car a speedy and successful recovery.
I am neutral on the above "discussion" - I think the problem was the generalisation made.
Just a quick reminder of the spirit of AVD and also the fact that each individual should try and remain constuctive - as threads get off track and
degenerate that is when they will be moderated. I'll leave it for now but lets let this pass and get back to the questions re. panel beaters, I
don't particularly like moderating but will do so if required.
Cheers
