how wide? (phat tyre question)
just wondering how wide i should run tyres on my type3? i just picked up some 14inch steel widies off bugboy today, they are running 175/70s on the
front and 205/70s on the rear, the front i am going to replace with something taller, will probably stick to 175 series, as i dont think 185 series
will fit, but what do you think about the rears? i LOVE the look of the 205s, they rubbed over heavy bumps on the way home but a little guard
manipulation sorted that, what i am wonderign though is 205/70s or 195/75s? will the 205s make me copbait? they look and feel so nice that i would
like to keep, but i dont want to be pulled over and questioned about them

My understanding of the ADRs is that the difference in size between the front and the rear tyres must not be more than 25mm, so with 175s on the
front, the 205s on the rear are too big. I'd go 175 front and 195 rear or 185 front and 205 rear.
Wheel sizes can also be 25mm different from standard, up or down. If the standard rim of a Type3 is 15 inches, then you can go 14x175 on the front
and 15x195 or 16x195 on the rear.
I may be wrong here so don't take what I have said as gospel. Get a copy of your local rules.

well all sorted, 195/70r14s on the rear, 175/75r14s on the front, looks much cleaner then the last set, much better handling and safer

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.

love those 16" 8 spoles T54 - they look so well proportioned!
I've run 225/60/15's for the last 3 years and cops never blink. When I HAVE been pulled over (for breath testing, not speeding) they actually had a
second look at the tyres (I also had 185/60/13's on the front) and they just waved me on...
...and Robert's ya father's brother...
