Reversing light

The reversing light on my '77 Kombi stays on most of the time and goes out ( I am told) after and few kms down the road or after 1/2 a dozen or so gear changes.

Are they able to be adjusted or would this more likely be a dud switch?

and

if I remove the switch to replace it will this drain the gearbox oil?

Its a manual transmission

Jeremy

Hi

The switch may be gummed up, try taking it out and soaking it in WD40.

You can undo the switch and put a bit of masking tape over the hole to stop the oil running out while you clean the switch and check or replace it. you wont loose much oil or park the van slightly up hill so the oil run away from the switch hole.
