Looks like a 93 wrx ( or ) RS turbo motor
Gear box is 4x4 so the rear out put would need to be pluged

I would say they have just got to the bit about engineering & bailed out

I would not touch it

I actually know this car, the business split up and this was remaining after. This would the base for a very good handling car and the price is very reasonable. The AWD gearbox only needs the centre diff removed and a splined adaptor placed over the two shafts (I did this with my STI gearbox) then you can fit the FWD rear cover on the box with a small mod. (or plug ithe hole!)
