Type 4 Info Forums

I would try this forum in the states as it seems to be the best type 4 forum around plus you will get to chat with jake rabey the type 4 guru AKA Massive Type 4.
You can get onto all this info through the following site which has some good links to type 4 engine builds etc.

http;//www.tunacan.net/t4/index.shtml

Best of luck but sorry i have to say i'mm heading back to a real rever in a type 1 not a bloody snail reving type 4 that you will spend a fortune on just the HEADS and thats only the start trying to just get them to rev quick let alone the extra weight you're carrieing.

Cylinder sealing is going to be the other chalange from what I hear with the type 4's running turbo applications. 6 stud is a must.

As far as pistons go I ran 16lb on mahle's no issues. I've heard of up to 20lb being run as well. Its not often you hear of a piston failing on power alone. Its 99% of the time a tuning error or fuel problem that results in detonation = blown ring lands or cracked pistons.

You will never melt a piston if your cars fuel system is setup properly. That only happens to guys that wind the boost up with no regard for what their fuel system is capable of doing.

Wiseco or JE are good, but if you want the ultimate... well then get CP. Here's a pic of whats going in my 2443 twin turbo engine.... 94mm, stroker pin height, 38cc dishes.

thanx for the advice, she is not gunna be a high reving motor and im not spending the earth on it either just well selected pieces for a track car that weighs less than my left leg heads are nearly finnished 47mm intake 39mm exhaust 6mm stems bee hive springs welded intake and exhaust ports. Was just gunna put in some mahles but thought someone might know of something that would fit. was looking at vq35 nissan pistons came close 12.2cc dish pin height about right and 95.5 diam but they want $1200.00 bucks for 6! spose 2 for spares might come in handy though

I know KB were not recommended for turbo type IV applications....but not sure of the ideal solution.

You could register to use http://www.forums.aircooledtechnology.com  which is Jake Rabys own forums - there is a turbo section there that may help with such a question.

T 1 mahlies in T4 barrels will work just fine. Don't waste you money if it's only going to make 250 hp.

CP gets my vote. That's what is going in my brother's Type 3. They are a true work of art and it's a shame to hide them in an engine!!

hey nick or got any ideas on cam specs was looking at about 260 @50 112 deg sep bout 500 lift. got a mate who grinds cams but you seem to make boosted cars go fast so a poke in the right direction would be great.

Spot on but don't get too exited with the lift.
Being boosted the mix will get in there with a slight loss but much more reliability in the long run.
Don't forget that the pins are 22mm in the cimas and the the T4's are 24mm so you will have to pin bush and bore the rods if they are stock.
Works well though because the std 94 barrels are nice and thick.

Im with boostn if your not chasing a lot of power. On the shoptalk forums the KB pistons were talked about for type 4. The piston is from a chevy 305, and measures 95.65mm. Aparently available wth a dome, dish or flat top all for the 305 chevy. Cheap in the US or if you have contacts.
