Fuel Tanks
Hey everyone,
I've gotta replace my fuel tank b/c it's old and shitty (plus i've got the front end all apart and i'm doing as much a possible!!!!). It's for a
Manx buggy.
I'm going to do a fuel injection conversion very soon so obviously i want to put provisions in place with a fuel return line and swirl pot (maybe
even surge tank??).
What fuel tanks (other than standard beetle) are ppl running?? Custom?? Capacity?? Any ideas??
Would love more capacity than standard!!!!!

I am using a stock 65 tank in my car with a 1/2 inch outlet feed to the fuel pump
and the return line runs down the inside of the filler neck in 5/16inch tube
no swirl pots or surge tanks not needed
stock tank 40 litres

Hi
Swirl pots are not needed if you drive like a granny and never let your fuel level get low, this subject has been covered at length, do a search for
posts by Bajawes.

I'm running a late oval bottom half with an internal swirl pot topped off with a 54 tank top that is cut away to allow a spare wheel to fit in it at
the rear and sit just in front of the glovebox. Fuel return feeds in at the bottom too. Stainless fuel lines up through the tunnel.
Damn fuel tanks is all I seem to be working on at the moment - I've been down at the boat today with tank # 7 for it - which is an 80 litre ex-LPG
tank I'm modifying for my genset. The main engines run off 6 x 104 litre tanks.

Maybe this is a lead to an ongoing problem I am having. installed a custom made tank in the buggy and it rips along till the fuel gets low then gives
me all sorts of trouble, I know that the outlet from the tank is a fairly small diameter can this cause the problem as it seems to be fuel related?
Any sugestions along these lines would be apreciated.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!
