Crankcase crack repair?

I just water blasted the 1200 motor in the Beetle and a leak appeared on the bottom corner of the crankcase. Not a huge crack, just looks like the corner has corroded away abit. Question is - can this be repaired in situ? And will a metal repair kit, like Devcon, do the job ok? Or does it need to be welded?

you will have to drain the oil for several days and grind of all the crap n corrosion to allow the expoy to stick flushing numerous times with aceton or a similar product I take it its leaking oil through this hole ???

Welding would be the better option with the engine apart of course
