Are adjustable spring plates legal in NSW
Just a question or two (or 3) about adjustable spring plates - For a 61 beetle.
1) Are they legal in NSW
2) What are your thoughts on them
3) Hope I can explain this question right - If, and I say IF you were to get your car airborn (I wont) would the spring plate just drop down onto the
spring plate rest and also allowing a gap between the adjuster bolt and what it adjusts on to. Thus when the wheel again contacts the ground as the
car comes down, you may have a little travel of no suspension resistance until the 2 sections of the spring plate meets at the adjuster bolt. And if
this is the case, what about safety here.

I would be VERY surprised - disappointed, really - if an engineer would sign for the 'loose' variety although I reckon the captive (Porsche) style
ones would be okay

I can't answer either of your questions
but in normal driving, Your rear wheels don't usually lift off the ground..
and if they did
the rubber bump stop should bottom out first...
The adjustable spring plates are sold in many countries so
I can't see why You would have any problems...
whether they are legal?
wheel spacers are illegal and i don't see any problems with them either..
[unless your 914/916 has them- standard fitment]
the rear end of a beetle is easy to adjust with the splines
so You don't see many adjustable spring plates over here
on beetles.

i was pulled over in a breath test stop about 10 coppers where sussing it out ,with mine slammed as far as it would go and a merged ceramic coated
muffler fat boy exhaust engine lid stand of stands and they loved it ,highly illegal im sure ,but so was the p plater in the maloo ute they let drive
of not knowing it was over powered for a p plater maybe it was my lucky day ? all of this usless to u but thought id tell it anyway.
