Rusted on extractors
Hey, I'm trying to remove the old rusted extractors on my notch so I can fit some non rusty ones, on one side they've rusted onto the outlet pipe of
the heater box. So far I'm trying the WD-40 and 'friendly persuader' approach (which isn't working too well)
Is there a better way? or should I start reaching for the angle grinder?

Unless you plan on keeping the oldies, get out the grinder.
I had the same trouble with my wagen and the old origional exhaust. Had to cut the flanged joint off after the metal gave way to my pursuasion and
tore itself. Gotta love rust that you can un-bolt though
If you can't fix it with a hammer,
you have an electrical problem....

I was kinda getting the feeling that'd be the best way, the old one has a few holes so I don't think it's worth saving. I managed to separate the
flanged joint although the centre ring destroyed itself into a bit of a rusty mush.
Oh well, gives me an excuse to buy more tools.

use a oxy torch to heat up the joint
give it a hammer while its red hot and tap around the pipe joint it will loosen up

I used a grinder or even a Dremmel, and jsut cut along the pipe, ie slotting the joint. Just go a little at a time, then try opening the joint with a
large screw driver. If you don't cut to far along you cna still use them if you want.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
