Hard to Change Gears
Was a really hot day today and after sitting the car in the sun for 2+ hours (was in the cinemas) it was really hard to change gears. The lever was
real stiff as though it was a really cold morning. Is this normal or is somthing wrong? Oil level? Adjustment?
P.s Installed a quick shift kit maybe a month or two ago. Has been able to grab all gears easy up until now. Maybe that just needs adjusting?

Simon get an idiot book that's what they are for! But in the meantime under the car on the left hand side at the top of the bell housing you will see
the clutch operating lever, this should have approx 3-5mm free play.check the shift lever bolts in case they are loose. cheers

If its one of those Empi quick shift kits my bets are on that. I had one in my 72S for two weeks and I had the same kind of trouble with it. Ended up
just taking it back out. Maybe try taking it out to see if it still happens. A least you can eliminate it if its not the problem.

Well I took it for another drive and it tried to eat reverse when I tried for second. I doubt the empi kit could be that bad being only a aluminium
plate and an aluminium ball. I will try adjusting it and see if tht fixes it.
Grumble are you trying to say I am an idiot?
Phil thanks for the offer, I may have to take you up on that offer sometime
Give me a yell if you ever need an extra hand doing somthing as well
Thanks for the help guys

hey simon, sounds like the little plate under the gearstick (spring sits on top and has a curved ski jump type little bit) is held in place by the two
bolts, is in the wrong position...needs adjusting.

Grinding reverse when going for second.Yep, its the quick shift alright!
The quick shift riser plate has no way of bracing the lockout plate to the ball housing plate as it would if it were normal. Its flat metal to flat
metal. It does not matter how tight you do the bolts up the plates still move. The shortened shifter puts more pressure on the housing plate causing
it to come loose. All it has to do is move is 5mm and you have problems. Their a waste of money imo.

Hmm I've never heard of anyone else having problems with them. Have only heard praise about them. Any one else with grief stories with quickshift?
Thanks for the input
