And so what do you think the world owes you?

Went for a drive today down to Rosebud. Melbourne people will know where it is. First of all I got pulled over by a Vic Police officer on a motorbike on the Nepean Highway. Before he could come to me, his bike fell over. He couldn't pick it up. I got out, helped him pick it up. He had pulled me over for not having a front number plate, which I showed him I had a new one on order. I helped him, he was in trouble with the bike on the ground. How can you just walk away.

Then when we were in Rosebud, we went to the beach. We had some fish and chips, fed the seagulls, and when we were packing up to leave, another couple were doing the same, and left a couple minutes before us. Their young son had left his new looking TONKA truck that he was playing with on the ground. We stayed there for 20 minutes to see if they would come back for the truck, as their son would have been shattered. Finally just as we thought they were not coming back, they did, and the mum was almost in tears that we had stayed to give the truck back. Her son was hysterical.

Yeah I know there is a difference between a cop on duty and a two year old kid. But what does the world owe me? I am not out to be a negative person or rape anyone for what they have be it material goods or just a good feeling. If you cant do anything good for anyone, then how can you look at yourself? Let people in on the road when they want to change lanes, be patient when in a parking lot, wait your turn when in line, just relax.

Yeh well...if this sort of stuff happened more often the world would be a better place.Unfortunately some peoples attitudes are that the world owes them something. I'm with you on this one.Good to see:):):):starhit::tu:
To answer your question....the world owes me a hole in the ground that I will happily pay for when I'm finished.

It can be as simple as holding a door open for someone hey...

But boy it fires me up when the bastards don't even look ya in the eye and completely act as if u don't exist despite what ur doing. Sure its a simple thing, and a simple guesture, but wheres the 'mutual' respect. Maybe i should move down ur way helbus.

its sad but most of todays youth just have no respect which doesnt paint a bright future
lack of discipline is the key problem i blame, i think parents let there kids get away with blue murder now.

you only have to look around a busy shopping center to see the packs of school kids barging there way thro people, walking past an elderly person struggling with bags of groceries or the change someone drops they'd rather keep than give back to the person that dropped it.
my old man used to thump the shit outta us when we kids if we stepped outta line, alot of parents wont even yell at their kids these days
unfortunately your a dying breed Peter, common courtesy is a foriegn concept to most of these kids

Hey, Karma comes around.

I was on the way to dinner with some friends and I see a bug pulled to the side going the other way on the divided road. I did a U and pulled up behind him.

The bug had died and we quickly determined that the distributor had popped up out of the engine.

While we were securing the distributor someone else pulled up in a non-VW. It turned out to be the father of one of my students who recognized my bus and stopped to lend a hand.

Now, fast forward to last Friday. I have tickets for three students to attend a Stephen Hawking lecture. One student could not attend, so who do you think I thought of to fill that slot? Yep, the student whose father stopped to lend a hand!

What goes around comes around, good and bad!

You should see how bad it is in SoCal. Clash of cultures, yes, but also plain lack of parenting.

Parents kick their kids out of the house in the evening with no supervision and then wonder why they get into mischief.

it's called Pay it Forward.
U do it so your day is the best it can be no matter what others do.
If there is no acknowledgement of your good deed just say, 'Thats ok anytime" and watch for the response.

I agree that there are a lot of kids like that (when I think of some of the kids I went to school with, there always were), but there are also a lot more terrific kids. They just aren't as noticeable a lot of the time. These are the kids that will shape the future.
I must say, it sure is good to find that there are so many people with similar philosophy to me. I always try and leave the world a bit better than I found it.

Joel, it's not just the youth of today, it's just 'youth'. When I was a in my teens we were the original skinheads in London and we never had any respect for the oldies and they were the generation that had to live through the war. Now I'm older I find it's too easy to blame kids but you'll find it's every generation. Getting to the copper though about two years ago I had an accident in my cab (bloody P plater teen hit me!!) and the cop taking my statement mentioned that he knew me through a part time job he had delivering food orders to the resort I work at. Since then he's seen me several times on the roads around Noosa and each time he flashes his lights at me and waves!!! Christ it gives me the sh*ts must be a guilty conscience:lol:

beetleboyjeff, i totallly skimmed passed you quoting me

it was a gross generalization im sure for every dropkick there are dozens of good kids out there
unfortunatley that would go unnoticed as its the dropkicks and their actions that get the most attention

Me personally the world don't owe me nothing, i just want people to be more tolerant of each other regardless of race, i would like world peace though. But there is one thing i would like come to think of it, i want all greed to be banished from this beautiful planet, if this had already happened we wouldn't be in this financial and enviromental disaster that is the world today.
