Braking/Steering Issue

Im sure this is somewhere else on the forum but i spent an hour searching so no one would tell me to do just that.
In my 72 super bug, when i brake rather hard the whole car shakes as well as the steering wheel and its starting to freak me out.
I also think its getting worse, i read this is a reasonable common problem?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Isnt it because you have front disc brakes? My mates torana does it also and he just tells me its normal.
I wouldn't know having 4 wheel drum brakes

classic superbug wobbles
usual suspects are sway bar bushings, control arm bushings, lower balljoints, tierod ends and wheels outta balance
theres a few others like wheel bearings and steering dampers

jacking the front end up check all those for play

This is a major safety issue ,why mess around take it to a volksie specialist and find out what is the problem before someone gets hurt. There are plenty of guys down there who support the forum and VW"s in general, their wealth of knowledge and experience cannot be beaten. As Joel says the most likely are unbalanced wheels, worn joints, shocks, steering damper and the list goes on. Superbugs are a great little car to drive when they are set up well.Cheers Les
