Steve,
I wonder if there is a larger price reduction available if we take off the front crash bar, the gun holding rail, the external air cleaner and the
frame around the rear of the vehicle.
Underneath all this is what looks like a very original vehicle including seats, steering wheel and rear tray.
Will watch this one with interest.

Oh so many questions for this seller. Have spoken to him and he wants to go through to the end date to see what it brings.
BTW- he had a $2K reserve.
It looks complete enough to be of interest
I must be mad but I am off tomorrow to see the vehicle. Its only 1 1/2 hours from me so I thought it was worth a view. Will report back

Not up into the those hills around Goulburn. Would freeze the what its off very quickly.
The CB will go into a Motor Expo in Nowra on Sunday- its for all makes and models so the CB should be something different for many to see.

Bill,
Are you still game for this one???
Auction is now at 2,950.00 AUD.
Still going to make the trek to view in it the flesh???
No reply yet on the KO #.
Graham, we can always hope, right???
At least you can catalog it in the "unknown CB" category temporarily.

Yoo back yet Bill? How wuzzit? The photo's aren't real big and it's hard to tell how good it is. The bonnet has a few lumps and bubbles, rust? The
front RH wing has some lumps and bumps but has roughly the same paint colour, have the other panels similar damage but yoo can't tell because of the
matt colour? He says the floor pan has been replaced, what with? Buggy different to a beetle isn't it?

Since this is described as a "shooting buggy", my thought from afar is....what gets shot at from this four wheel Aussie platform???
Dingos, roos, crocks.........??? Huummm, an inquiring foreign mind is curious.
Also....Bill you can really pick out the fine details.
I guess the focal point created by the massive spotty in the middle of the vehicle can easily dominate the viewer's perception.
I completed missed the "snorkel" air intake on the right rear.
When I got to looking at the pics, it appears the air filter is somehow joined to the snorkel exiting the rear deck area. Also it would appear the
heat riser tube exits the deck to the left of the snorkel and joins it above the body. The pics provided don't really give us the angle to determine
how it all is assembled, so its a bit mysterious.
Additionally, those mufflers appear to be stock or a facsimile of original.
Also I'm trying to figure out what the damned sign says in the rear license plate area......."Bungonia Bush..............what"??? The bottom is a
bit obscured.
I'm interested to know how good or how bad this CB is from a knowledgeable on site observer. What say you Bill?
Regards,
'Snorkel' Steve

Haha Steve, thats funny... Seems weird for someone not to know.. Typical things to be shot at are foxes, rabbits kangaroos etc. As for the sign, it
says Bush Fire Brigade. The volunteer fire fighters

Thanks Graham.
Well........as you know.......I'm just a dim bulb Yank, so I ask some stupid questions from time to time.
I don't envy any Aussie fire fighter.
The have had a very tough year.
Same goes for a those who lost family, friends, and property.
I haven't read anything about fires recently.
Has the fire danger subsided, or is the treat still high due to the ongoing lack of rain?

Steve

The fires been burning at Bungonia today as no less than 3 people called at the owners property to inspect this vehicle.
I can report the following;-
1. Going it is. It runs and stops like any good CB should do.
2. It would make an outstanding shooting buggy and I am told many a roo has met his match using the elaborate spotlight set up. Easily removed and no
major repair work required.
3.It does not win a prize for presentation. Complete it is, original it is not and its the lack of originality that makes it score low marks from me.
Pan, motor,12 volt, repaint ( and now needing another coat)
4. It has very little rust. Its had a hit in the near side front inner and outer guards. Its been beaten but the creases are still there and very
visible. There are a number of folds and dents underneath both side sills caused by rocks.,
I see its above $3K now. It all depends what you want a CB for if you are considering buying this one.

Steve, the Snorkel.
Yes, the external snorkel actuaslly feeds into the engine bay area in two places- one in front of the air cleaner intake and the other direct into
existing air tubing on the motor.
The mufflers are not original. The guy who owned the car made them up himself based on the original mufflers that were on the car.
The owner is a farmer so he has been very handy with mechanical stuff and it was he who change over the floor pan some years ago.
Bill.

The CB pan was pressed separately from a Beetle pan without the heater control outlet hole. They allocated a separate sequence of chassis numbers for
Country Buggies (commencing 1183xxxxx) I dont know how many productions runs of CB pans were ever done but I recall ex factory employees telling me
there were CB pans stacked on top of one another almost to the ceiling.

What's this machine going to finish up going for? It's at nearly 4K now with 5 days still to run!!!! Put another 8 or 9 K onto the price for a good
restoration and it's going to be a very spensive CB. I won't bid anymore than 10K for it, anybody else going higher?

Im not sure this vehicle will make $10K even though its sitting at near $4K now. I reckon it is running out of steam and will end up closer to $5K
than to $10K but then again you could drive this one away from the place ( no plates though) and there are not alot of Cbs that are drivable. Thats a
big bonus.
In looking at pictures it looks a far better proposition than a couple of the other vehicles that are on Ebay for sale at the moment.
Its a brave guy to spend $10k for the vehicle and then have to do a resto sometime down the track. One thing- you can enjoy the vehicle right
now......
I am interested to know if any other Forum members were one of the three other people who inspected the vehicle last weekend.

Yeah, like me if I was serious I would go for the one at Grenfell. There is some real opportunity at US$18K starting bid.
Im still astounded how they have all arrived on Ebay at once.

Well the "Shooting Buggy" went for $5,759.66AUD!!!
That's 4,568.62 USD....
A lot more than I thought it would bring.
Lots of last hour bidding.
Although it is a running CB, my guess is was more as the shooting platform it is than a restorable CB.
I think this sale helps support the value of Greg Cash's restored stock CB.
If this CB was worth over 5,700AUD, Greg's is worth more than the current bid of 7,800.00AUD, IMO

Steve

I've had a lot of shooting experience Steve and believe me there are better things around than Country Buggies to shoot from. For that price I could
buy 2 Landcruiser 4X4s with heaters, windows that wind up and roofs to put the swivelling spotlight through. I used to shoot foxes with a 62 Baja
with big wheels all round, it was great, but cold. Still on the junk heap at the station (ranch for you), perhaps I'll show you a picture of it one
day? My bet is that his bloke bought it for the Country Buggy, not the shooting. We'll see.

Tony was right on the money. The CB has been purchased for use as a daily driver CB.It will be cleaned up and adorned with some advertising and will
live on the north coast of NSW.
The purchaser has an exisiting CB that needed a fair amount of work including major panel fabrication. It became a major long term project which did
not suit the individual.
Its always good to see CBs go to a good home.
(and yes- there was the agreed deduction for the spotlight) This offsets the shipping costs up the coast.
