Restoring my faith in AVD
2 months ago I decided one afternoon that I'd never come in to AVD again. I'd had enough of the bitching and back biting that goes on round here as
well as a few members "I know more than everyone else about VWs" attitudes. And then there were the abusive PMs I've recieved over the last few
years. I know I'm not the only one. So I was gone and I didn't miss it. It seemed to me that no one would care anyway...
Last week I needed to access some tech info in an old post and my computer logged me on automatically. The tool bar told me I had 2 PMs. Out of
curiosity I opened the first one up. To my shock, someone who'd previously been insulting APOLOGIZED.
So, without embarrassing that person, let me say, thank you. It also allowed me to understand his perception of my comments and
apologize for (unintendlingly) upsetting him.
Anyway, I hope this might spark some other similar behaviour. I know we all get a bit passionate some times and I know some of us like a stir (guilty
as charged), but a little "sorry" goes a long way.
See you round... again.
Pete

You know Walter, I want laugh at your post but if you've seen some of the things people have sent to me in PMs you wouldn't have joked. It occurred
to me that the behaviour of some people on this forum is what would be clasified as "cyber bullying" if it happened to kids. Most of those PMs were
motivated by a totally illogical hate of non-aircooled engines. No offence, but you'll understand if I don't think it's funny.

them and dont let them win by getting u to leave.... just ignore their comments and talk to the rest of us

Pete who?
Mate, these people who are bitching and bullying have been in the SCENE for ever, know ALL and are entitled to the valued opinion their world revolves
around.
Little do they know that it was on the backbone of aircooled that VW, Porsche, Subaru, Deutz and others; improved, developed and in some cases
complicated the pancake engine.
Pinch of salt I say.
You running WATER through your engine, good for you.
Nice to meet you guys @ Dinos the other night.

How did know before even looking that this would be the post Steve!
Yes Pete, now that I think about it, you were absent from that little discussion. I may have gotten a bit hot under the collar with this one but my
first impressions were that I was not happy with a spectator calling my car and other Suby powered vehicles.........boring.
Anyway, welcome back Pete. And by the way, the people that abused you were probably spectators as well and have not seen the efforts you have put into
your vehicle and the countless posts of help to others that you have given.

I really enjoyed looking at your fasty at the nats.
BTW, I thought it was interesting the comments the fellow made about subaru powered cars being not as fast or interesting to watch at wakefield. Coz
from what I understand some of the aircooled cars were driven by the most most talented drivers in our scene. Mr Ward is the NSW hillclimb champ for
his class is he not. That would make for some great spectating. I'd like to watch him drive no matter what he had under the bonnet. Not that most
people within the scene really care. From what I've seen most people are more interested in polishing their cars than driving them properly. Yes that was a stir.
My car club is running a motorkhana at Ansell Pk in richmond tomorrow. Who's coming?

Thanks Pete, no point staying shiny in the garage, might as well give it blast around the track. Love the hillclimb footage, Im assuming that drop of
camera was due to you lodging a rock in the persons forehead

i think they sent PMs because they were spineless and knew what they were sending would have them banned. I tried talking to one person openly and
sensibly for some time, but even that ended in tears. Just purist redneckery really. but that's water under the bridge now. I'll just forward those
sorts of PMs to mods now and let the mods sort them out if it happens again.

...hmmmm....I think I could have asked the same question if someone else didn't get in ahead
The person in the cafe sounded plain anal sgetty, they can leave you dumbfounded
I've been off the forum for ages...months ...years? Not for the same reasons though...just lack of time online at home for me ( between jobs at the
moment you could say) I'm finding my dub enthusiasm and spark coming back!!! (jenz jumps up n down!!) (we used to have a jumping smilie?)
