Can someone please tell me what year did Aust beetles start with Irs rear end and ball joint front end? Cheers

Yep, 1976 models and semi-auto only. Also, all of the Superbugs were IRS, if you're prepared to go for a strut front end. I'd encourage you to go
for it, they really do handle very well. I used to drive a 1500 and never wanted to go to a strut front end, I really didn't like them. Having owned
and driven an S-bug this year though, I have to say that they are definitely worth it. The handling is considerably better than my 1500 was, although
I would say that most of the improvement is in the IRS and not the front end.
