1959 bug nana car

Hi everyone, this is my first post and i thought id introduce my bug.
my sister bought the bug in 1983 for $1300 from the SA riverland dealer that sold the vw new, to the orig ovner.
On the last service in the orig service book from the old lady when we got it it had done 15000 mile. 15000 ml in 24 years not bad.

COLOUR: Manly TAN current mls 38000

the bug has stayed in the family and was my first car also, and been a shed queen since, used for now and then back up car the odd time.

the car is still as we got it , other than new front carpet. and headliner. My Dad put Holden rims with VW centres welded in on it in 1983 to get a bit more rubber on it , but still have the orig rims and orig tyres with the 15000 mls on them.

I have all the orig wallet full of brochers and service book, radio book (still got the orig radio), RAA book , RAA membership cards , first and other rego slips, Orig purchase invoice.

thought this may be of interest to some.

Paul

Yea didn't notice that till is posted the pic. Since I've gotten all keen again to give the old vw a birthday I've taken it out to put in some new indicator and warning light colour plastic. I had a globe come out of its holder , while fishing for it realised the original colour strips were faded and brittle.
I've got a few bits and pieces ordered to spruce her up a bit. Just replace a few brittle rubbers etc. The door seals are stuffed , the worst things are just age things , rubbers hardening up etc.

Nice car mate.

Before you go replacing all your rubbers you might want to try 'gibbs oil' on them.

The rubbers on my 62 were hard,.. I sprayed this stuff on them and over a period of time they softened up nicely.

Used it on my rubber floor matts also.

Matt Berry on here is distributor for it,.. contact him for more info.
