Number plate light

been searching around for ages, I think this is the correct number plate light for the cb in black, seen them on a few of them. Can never find them expect somewhere overseas where you have to pay crazy postage.

Anyone else know much?

The original number plate light 12Y943009 is a Hella 2557, but in the 60s they had a metal cover that was available, at least to VW, in Black. Today the 2557 is not the same:-

I’m going to use one of these new 2557s, at least it’s the same part number?

The front blinker 12Y953025 are Hella 2100, apparently still available:-

The rear lights 12Y945003 have not been available for many years. The last of them only came with a chrome bezel, the original was black.

i went through the hella catalogue a few weeks back and special ordered the blinkers through repco as my dad buys a lot of parts there for his business, they were quite happy to do so. the lights came spot on!so you can definitely get them still.

i did see the 2557 but wasn't happy that it wasn't black and i think painting would look rather tacky seeing as i want black, a shame. interesting to know the old one was black metal case.
thats why i have been searching for the number plate light i found, its like the 2550 but with a flat base instead of the big bulky one.

the rear lights i have searched and searched with no luck, i got new lenses off bill before he passed but some new bezels would just seal the deal
i have bought narva versions of the tail light and will modify the bezel with a tad of sanding so the hella lenses will fit in them. not really necessary but its just the perfectionist coming out in me wanting all the lights to have original hella symbols on them like they should 😀🤪🤪

did some digging last night and found the hella number of the rear taillights that aren't made any more along with a catalogue picture.

i then proceeded to plug the spare parts numbers in and to my surprise i found that hella apparently still make the spare parts! so it will be off to repco for me to special order the hella bezel and maybe a spare set of lenses
