missed it. I wish posted it earlier would have come out 😢
well lots more kilowatts and a wet track dont go well together, I was running on low boost for two laps in the rain got overconfident and put the boost up to the next level lost traction and hit the wall coming onto the main straight.
I bent a lower control arm, broke the bottom off a strut, creased the front 1/4 panel, broke two mudguards and head light but worst of all is I bent the chassis at the torsion bar housing and the front part of chassis where the sway bar bolts on.
I always regretted putting so much weight in steel into my chassis, so I have a spare chassis that I was saving for a rainy day at the side of my garage, it will get modified with less steel this time

What a bugger !!!!
It's good to see you have still got your sense of humour, Steve..."spare chassis that I was saving for a rainy day".
Cheers, Greg
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
Bugger! sorry to here mate!

thanks guys, I already have a plan to fix some things that I did wrong last time and make it better
Took me all day to get it out of the trailer and into my garage
I'm glad you are ok Steve, i never thought your car was set up for Supersprint especially with 70 more kw of Subaru power and in the wet, was there a mechanical failure before the loss of control?
bitten by the bug..........several times
oh no, mate that terrible news, you dont always realise 😵💫 how fast your going when you hit something I bet you saw the wall coming and said this is going to hurt..
Car has very good handling so it was going really good, I was actually chasing down Rudi in his STI, we were both coming onto main straight with Rudi in front and I thought there's going to be drag race to turn 1, so I selected boost group 2 which is about 250kW, as soon as it came onto boost it stepped sideways and pointed me at the wall, I was a passenger from then on, I was probably only doing 80-90 kph.
I fitted my Simmons with track tyres on them, I hadn't really given the Advan Neveos a good run before, they were sticking really well even in the wet
a few photos
two more
Ouch, ouch, ouch 😢😢😢
yep thats a big hit👍
That's nasty!
How are you though Steve?
At least you've got another pan to get started on.
ahh man! sad news Steve. I only just saw this tonight. you better get cracking thou, nationals in May!! maybe you should rip the other strut out and stick a BJ front end in it......
anyway at least you are okay, car can be fixed and sounds like you have some improvements in mind.
I'll give you a call during the week...

1968 race beetle - twin turbo Subaru - stress relief 😁
1960 beetle - old school low & slow 😏
Thanks I'm OK, the medic guys were worried about my blood pressure, all I wanted to do was get back to my car and see what happened to it and make sure the tow truck drivers didnt hurt it anymore, lucky my son was there and stopped them doing anything stupid
PS I have 4 weeks leave at the end of the week, my wife said looks like nothing will get done around the house again. I also had just fitted brand new Konis to the front
Struts will do that
getting rid of the struts could help I think? by making the car slower, nah screw that
Torsion Bar wont turn you into a WALL

Steve, if you change your mind, and decide to go slower...Dave's the man to show you how.
👍

at least I wont spend 12 months repairing the struts 😂😂😂
Hi
Powercruise was on this weekend in Sydney, I was going to take my Beetle to it but that wasn't going to happen, so my son found this little beauty for me, a Nissan 180 SX, came with a healthy SR20DET, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, two sets of wheels, new coil overs etc.
Fixed a few little issues, rego on Friday, did several cruise sessions and my son did about 3 hours of drifting with it and it didn't have any problems, its a bit gutless after my Beetle but its a really nice car to drive.
Steve
That is right Dave 😂
hey Barry I don't recall seeing you on the track at any stage Drags or Circuit maybe yr still building your struts
Steve,
Great to see you still got out there and had some fun and bloody good work to Dave (your son) for organising a ride 😁 👍
I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!
