hey ratty, when you say the back end is wound right up, (scuse silly q bu-ut..), do you mean the shockies or the actual spring plate thingy bits? After the blackduck episode I ended up putting a 1cm hole in the axle boot, I have adjustable shockies and as they are only a few mnths old I basically drove with the lowest setting, would tightening them up help prevent that from happening?..... ($2 dissapears b4 the snickering begins...one day I will convert to heavy duty stuff...one day!) 😉
Heather the blue Baja has not much more ground clearence than yours in the rear , what makes his look higher than yours is his modified front end, and i reacon if you were too pop down to brads shed for a day between yourself ,brad and ashley you could have yours up in the air too ,Now knowing that you have some spare front ends that would be even easier as you just drop of the front end one week ash modifies it and you pickit up next week and fit at leisure at home.
Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel
go for it homebrand

hi guys im tim out of the pics i took my back end up 1 inner spline from standed the ressen dave looks a little lower is because he has got a type 4 in it and the sump is a bit lower also his bash plate hangs down a bit but it is better than bashing a hole in your motor the front is a bit of a trick but a piece of piss to do all u need is a hack saw and a welder i have a spare early beam if u want it to practice or have it ready to put in so it will only be in bits for half a day so anyway when are you all keen to go i try and get there one afteernoon on most weekends if not all give me a call and let me now when your keen 0422048474:puke

*sigh* i am never going to have long fingernails again!
*double sigh* mental note : bleed brakes as planned tomorrow,, then go out and start fossicking for front end with easiest access and least amount of bits on.... hmm the one with the disc brakes looks good.
Mental calculation as to budget... outlook grim... mannnn I need a second daily drive so I can just start ripping festy to bits and start again!lol.
*tripple sigh* why did the dingbat previous owner have to weld the bullbar thing to the body, wat a hassle:alien
Nothing a grinder won't fix

hey Andy, Its easy just click on the link provided!!!!:vader
$2, if the front end you have in the car is a King & Link Pin then you will need to fit another one the same, ie the ball joint front end with disc brakes won't fit....... the torsion bars are spaced apart differently between the two styles.

They actually look like decent hills. Did he actually get up them? Pretty impressive if he did in those pics anyway, he has his foot on the brake!!!
But really, they look steep.

ok I know how to get to the pics but that does not show me how to get to the spot itself
😉 Might go check it out in the Van if they ever finish the gearbox:cry

Daz, the hill I think you are talking about was very steep....we had trouble walking up it. No he didn't make it up but that was because we ran out of time...there are a couple of photos of his run up and there is a rock ledge at the front wheels that brought it to a stop....the close up photo is full of tyre smoke not dust as the rears bagged up on a rock trying to get traction......

Andy, are you talking about a Kombi Van? I took our Baja Bus on the Night Nav run and there is no way in hell I'd take it into the tracks at Ormeau......
Graham
As for where it is....we took the second Ormeau turnoff from the highway heading south and headed out west.....

Hi guys,
Thought I would finally jump in! I have been out there with Tim and Dave quite a few times in my HiluxSR5, it is definately tuff going. Graham is correct take the Ormeau/Kingsholme exit and turn onto Upper Ormeau road, follow this for a few klms go over a couple of cattle grids then turn right into a cut out section in the side of the road and have fun!!! Be sure to go with someone else as I have had several rescue phone calls from people going alone. If someone makes a date I will try and make it but unfortunately not in my VW as the ground clearance is a problem.
Cheers

yeah its just past an old wooden house its at the top of the hill that the house is on maby 100m on the right hand side if u have troble call me and i will take u there and give u the tour 0422048474😉
When I was there, there was some tougher tracks but most were fine. The one thing we did all agree on was that a lot of the tracks were really rough in an annoying way, vibrating the crap out of us.
