The originals were made of brass and chrome plated. they had a double curve on the front, the flat 4 copie's are very close to the original! They were made by a German company called Happich. Happich made a few other accessorys for VW's they no longer manufacture things for old VW's.

Looks like they may be the same. The cheap ones have huge folded front lips. The originals have rolled edge's!

Found it!!! :bounce:bounce

Fender-mounted turn signals arrived on the Deluxe model (the only version coming to the U.S.) for 1955, replacing the mechanical semaphores that had been used previously. The gas tank was reshaped to increase luggage space in the front trunk and metal door stays replaced cloth ones. VW also added metal "eyelids" over the headlights which were a hit for their good looks, but aerodynamically disadvantageous. On a car with as little power as the Beetle though, such a disadvantage can be profound.

A blurb...

Founded by Philip Rosenthal Sr.
in 1879 in Selb, Germany, the company's focus has always been on two ideals: master craftmanship and design leadership.

Rosenthal doesn't imitate what other people have done nor follow a trends.

The goal of its efforts in development, production and sales is to market a truly original line that would reflect the many aesthetic currents of the time

Can't find when and who contracted them...they still do some amazing China Ware!!! I want some!! 😎

Yeah
I like the slender one's with the nice folk art flowers painted on them. They give you car that European touch! Thats the problem with this country. Evrything has to be what the typical steriotype Aussie male thinks is Macho and acceptable! I don't care I like them and I like the smell and look of the flowers on the car dash! after all she is a Lady!
