Spook Driving the 64 wheeler

There has been a stigma to being BEHIND a Volkswagen as long as I can remember & it obviously still exists.
As for Andrew's comment on the smell of the fumes of an old car, take a spin on a bike & breathe deep. New cars on premium unleaded stink, but LPG is the worst.
More of the problem is how people get a licence.
When I got my bike licence in 78, it was an oral examination & the same guy followed you for an hour.
Later I got a car licence- the exam was multiple choice & a clerk put a peice of plastic over it with circles where the answers were supposed to be. They didn't know if you were right or wrong, as long as their circles matched your crosses. Then another guy came for a spin with you.
For reasons I won't go into, I had to resit the test in 1990. This time it was done on computer & it said pass or fail. No human interaction whatsoever.
Even then, all these driving tests are done running around the city. Most people already had their licence BEFORE they ever drove on the freeway.
Highway running is self taught.
