I have a problem!!! No power at coil motor turns over but nothing happens. When i connect a wire from the ignition switch direct to the coil The motor starts fine but when I go to turn the key off but motor keeps on running until I pull the wire off. Please help as I am quickly going insane.

Thanks
Beetle

i have splitty ones which are very nearly the same as the early german type 3's 'but' the type 3's have a inch long mounting bar so the screw holds it in place, which the splitty ones dont, will alloy welding 'melt' the inside seagul?

its not the small plastic barrel that sits behind the key cylinder is it?

thats all that was faulty w mine.

be careflu as there are many replacements that look the sameish but only certain ones will fit.
